Various media outlets are publishing pieces trying to link the recent fall in Tesla Motors stock price with the fall of gasoline prices. TSLA has been down about 22 percent since Thanksgiving.

Today, prices of TSLA are slightly up. So, what is the press saying now? “Tesla Rebounds as Shoppers Look Past Pump Prices“, says. Bloomberg. Or, correlation doesn’t mean causation and the price of gas isn’t a big driver of Model S demand.

What does Elon Musk, CEO of the aforementioned electric vehicle company, think of all this? He doesn’t care. He’s been busy re-reading the Issac Asimov’s Foundation series. Tweeted he,

Elon has made it known in the past that he doesn’t care much about the day-to-day progress and regress of his company’s stock price, and has even committed the cardinal sin (several times) of publicly stating it was too high. Who does that?

Someone who looks at the bigger picture, who doesn’t worry about short-term fluctuations, but keeps his eye fixed on long-term goals. Someone who also thinks the Dune series by Frank Herbert is both brilliant and instructive, as it advocates putting limits on artificial intelligence. Another tweet,

So there you go, wisdom from Elon: don’t worry, read sci-fi.
