We all know Mars Needs Guitars, right? Ok, maybe not all of us, but people into Australian alternative rock from the 80’s certainly do. Ah, those Aussies…Hoodoo Gurus, Midnight Oil, Weddings Parties Anything…..oops, we digress.
You know what else Mars needs? Farmers. Or, at least, SpaceX needs farmers, and the idea behind that Elon Musk company is to enable interplanetary travel, starting with Mars. So, it’s totally legit to think that this advertised position for a farmer in Texas has everything to do with colonizing Mars. Or maybe getting tax breaks from the state to offset the development of land it’s using for its private launch site near Brownsville. Or maybe to supply fresh food for its cafeteria at the aforementioned rocket pad. Whatever.
Regardless of future plans, SpaceX is looking for a farmer, outstanding in his field, who knows his way around both a John Deere and spreadsheets with experience with row crop farming. If this sounds like you, or a friend of yours looking for a new gig, here’s the link. It’s not mentioned, but we imagine individuals with ideas about terraforming planets might move to the front of the line.
I believe the farming position is for the McGregor test site, not for the Brownsville launch site.
